URLs such as http://newforge.sf.geek.net/p/forge/tickets/new/ give 404 error while I'd expect web server to do a redirect for me to https://newforge.sf.geek.net/p/forge/tickets/new/ automatically.

Yea, that's all about hiding newforge.sf.geek.net behind ldap access.
The way it works on re.sourceforge.net is more like the way it will really be in production.
