every project has a history, a legacy, a past which needs to be preserved and respected - the entire internet seems sick in its drive to forget yesterday or even last minute in a headlong rush into new technology, new interfaces, new whatevers that cause all height of heck when the tools we have now work just fine.

I second this. Furthermore, I critically need a lasting record of this (and similar) project metadata to be available because my funding sources and my superiors use this data as part of the measure of my project's impact. From this, they measure whether I keep my job. Please don't remove easy access to this history. The current tool works very well and helps provide evidence of impact when this is needed.

Ditto. I use the Forum stats as progress metrics for my NASA-mandated reporting. Removing this 10yr timeseries of my project stats would be a huge blow.
