It would be very convenient, for the purpose of promoting projects, to have a standard URL format for the project icon which worked for classic and allura projects, as well as projects that don't have an icon. The use case here is that of generating the weekly/monthly top 25 projects list, and auto-generating the content for a blog posting, or newsletter, or whatever, and inserting that project icon into the generated content. Having a standard URL for that icon (http://sf.net/projects/foobar/icon) which rewrites/redirects/whatever to the actual one, would make this a lot easier and save considerable time looking up those URLs per project.

This is very low priority.

Closing. This is already the case in Allura, just not in Classic.
