I've got a moderation request on Thursday 2012-09-27 21:48 UTC (i.e. 3 days ago) for project SourceAFIS, forum Open Discussion. I've approved the new forum topic with little delay (a few hours perhaps). Sender of the moderation email was user aarsla with account on users.sf.net, i.e. a logged-in user. The message has immediately disappeared from moderation queue, but it didn't show up in the forum. 3 days later, I still cannot find the message in either the forum or the moderation queue, even if I set filter to status = Any. With that filter, I see all the old messages posted before upgrade, but I don't see the new post that arrived after upgrade.

It seems the lost message is not completely deleted. It's just not present in the topic list in the forum. It's linked from forum list page as the last message in the forum. You can see the message here:

https://sourceforge.net/p/sourceafis/discussion/1051112/thread/fdff308b/?limit=25#8b38

Yet it is not visible in the message list here:

https://sourceforge.net/p/sourceafis/discussion/1051112/ [ctsai: I do actually see it, but at the very bottom of the list, not at the top where I'd expect it to be]

I am suspecting a bug in the moderation process. I've set the forum to Posting Policy = Approve All. Anyway the forum is now in an obviously corrupted state. I hope you will find out how that might have happened.

I've tried to reply to the phantom topic described in my comment above in hope it would bring the topic into the main topic list. My reply was ignored completely. No error was reported. My response simply disappeared.

I'm not able to reproduce what he's seeing, I don't know if it's just a difference in the particular steps involved, or if it's a forum specific issue.

In any case though, there's definitely some odd behavior going on here. It looks like the post did actually appear, but it's at the bottom of the list instead of the top. His reply though, nowhere to be seen, though it does say there are two posts on the thread list.

The problem with new threads appearing at the bottom of the page is still there though. If I reply to the new thread, it is moved to the top. I think some date/time field in the forum code doesn't get initialized properly when new thread is posted.

Also the post count for new threads is always 2. If I reply to the thread, the post count is still 2. This is not really an issue. It just makes me worry that something is broken under the surface.

There is indeed an issue with new threads that are moderated. After approval the thread doesn't show up the forum page.

    Post counts fixed in [#8020]
