Merge requests should have a shorthand id so that they can be referenced. Forward- and back-links should work too, so that, for example, if a merge request description says fixes [#123] then that ticket should have a back-link to the merge request.
Currently, if you reference a ticket in a MR comment, then go to the ticket and look at the backref it shows a generic "Thread" link which doesn't even work right.
