The particular error message this user hit was "Topic caught in spam net." so it sounds like the antibot countermeasures. I realize we can't really recover text already lost, but I think his suggestion for that moving forward is sound.
We're not going to make this improvement for the classic tools, but we should for projects on the Allura platform
This specific case was for the classic platform which we won't change. See [#2643] for allura.
